The 70th anniversary of the WRC Safari Rally had a warm-up day in a Shakedown stage on Wednesday 21 June 2023.
The shakedown stage of 5.40km was won by last year’s winner and championship leader Kalle Rovanpera.
Behind him was Ott Tanak while eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier secured the third place.
However, it wasn’t a clean drive for all drivers as Takamoto Katsuta rolled but he will be among the competitors on Thursday.
The other driver to hit trouble was Safari Rally debutant Esapekka Lappi who had two mechanical issues.
