A slow start of seven points against 16 for Uganda basketball female national team, Gazelles against Kenya cost them what would have been a sweet win over their rivals.
With the home crowd support, Uganda equaled Kenya’s effort in the second quarter with both teams making 18 points in a Zone V FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2023 Qualifiers game played yesterday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
Maria Najjuma‘s layup at 1:29mins to the end of the third quarter tied the Game 42:42 to give the Gazelles a fighting chance thanks to Uganda’s 17-9 good performance.
However, Melissa Otieno‘s three-pointer turned the tables and Kenya held on to win the last quarter 11-18 to secure a 53-61 full-time victory.
