The annual national Nile Special 7s return this weekend in Entebbe with a sole call to all stakeholders to raise the bar in all aspects; on the pitch, in the stands and during the fans’ activations.

The call was made today during the 2024 National Series in Entebbe launch graced by Uganda Rugby Union CEO Julius Lutwama and Nile Special Brand Manager Eric Malinga.

Lutwama emphasized the need to consolidate the gains achieved thus far by raising the Sevens version of the game in all aspects.

“To a good degree, most Ugandans appreciate the investment being injected in our National Rugby 7s side and the results are showing. However, this requires consistent investment at all levels of the game by all stakeholders and clubs are the bedrock of this.

“This is why raising the stakes at the national level, strongly includes raising our game at the club level by, among other reasons, getting them competitive platforms to hone their skills,” said Lutwama.

Lutwama noted that the strategic vision to develop and expand the Sevens to all regions of the country would not have been achieved but for the consistent commitment of the Union partners, especially Nile Special.

Meanwhile, Malinga acknowledged the all-round input by all stakeholders including URU for its leadership, the players and the fans who truly make the game, the media for the continued coverage of the game, but noted that there is still room to raise our game.

“As the No.1 Fan of Uganda rugby, we pledge a truly unmatched 7s atmosphere from the first circuit in Entebbe this weekend to the last one at King’s Park Arena in October. While it will be knocks, side-steps and tries on the pitch, off it will be a fun affair all day long with numerous fans’ activations to win goodies, subsidized drinks, music and eats.

“Our rallying call is to the fans to bring all the vibe to the games, the party is assured,” said Malinga. \
