Sébastien Ogier won the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya 2023 ahead of Toyota team-mate Kalle Rovanperä.

The Frenchman led the 1-2-3-4 finish for Toyota Gazoo Racing on a spectacular final day at Safari Rally Kenya.

Ogier fought hard to recover time lost to Rovanperä in the rocky opener on Sunday as he clipped a tree and ripped off his car’s entire rear tailgate.

Despite the scare, Ogier pushed through and recorded his third victory from just five starts so far this season.

President William Ruto presented Ogier and co-driver Vincent Landais with their trophies, Ogier’s second win at the event.

Despite failing to defend the title, Kalle Rovanperä captured second and extended his WRC championship lead to 37 points.

Takamoto Katsuta’s who rolled during the shakedown stage settled for fourth position overall.

The World Rally Championship returns next month with Estonia as the host for the eighth round from 20 – 23 July.
