Proscovia Alako started the National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup in style, with two Player of the Match performances for Aziz Damani.

Damani, playing their first games in the competition, won both their matches, with Alako the star performer in both.

The opening batter scored 61 not out as Damani exacted revenge on their rivals Soroti City, before recording 64 against Pioneer.

It was a resounding start for Damani, who lost the league title to Soroti City earlier this year. They beat Soroti by 13 runs and then thumped Pioneer by 100 runs to ascend to the top of the table.

Immaculate Nakisuyi also turned out with good figures for Damani. In addition to her 25 runs, the ‘boss lady’ picked up two wickets against Soroti and two more in the afternoon.

Victoria Pearls captain Consy Aweko also picked up two wickets against Pioneer.

Damani also had a good performance from their new Kenyan international acquisition, Queenter Abel, who took two wickets in her first game and one in the second.

It was a below-par display from the majority of the Soroti City bowlers. Aside from Evelyn Anyipo (3) and Phionah Kulume (1), none were able to pick up a wicket.

Opener Irene Alumo bowled at an economy rate of 5.00, while Janet Mbabazi bowled at 9.00, conceding 9 runs from the only over she bowled.

Soroti City started the day as the team on top, but their loss sees them drop to second position.
