The 2022/23 FUFA Juniors League National Championship kicked off today at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, with two exciting matches.
In the first game, Kampala region winners Prosper Soccer Academy defeated Kitara region winners Friends of Friends Soccer Academy 3-1.
Omar Diala and Yusuf Sebbupenje (brace) scored for Prosper Soccer Academy, while Samuel Asiimwe scored the consolation goal for Friends of Friends Soccer Academy.
In the second game, Buganda region winners Vipers SC Junior Team edged Western region champions Mbarara Sports Academy 2-1.
Flamboyant talent Farouk Tumwesigye worked his magic and found Reagan Ssekisambu, who clinically finished from close range to put Vipers SC Junior Team in the lead.
Mbarara Sports Academy found the equalizer through Usman Kaaya but substitute Frank Ssekanjako restored Vipers SC Junior Team’s lead and sealed the victory.
The two wins have put Prosper Soccer Academy and Vipers SC Junior Team in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
The tournament will resume tomorrow with two games as Vipers SC Junior Team take on Friends of Friends Soccer Academy at 2pm, while Eastern region winners BUL FC Junior Team will face Western region champions Mbarara Sports Academy at 4pm.
The tournament will be played on a round-robin format with each team set to play four games during the five match days.
