Paige Robinson has joined the Uganda Gazelles training camp in Alexandria, Egypt, just in time as the team prepares for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket.

The energetic combo guard arrived on Tuesday and will make her debut at Africa’s top women’s basketball tournament. Uganda opens its campaign against Guinea on Sunday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Robinson was a standout during the qualifiers, and her arrival boosts a backcourt that veteran center Claire Lamunu says is now stronger than ever.

“Since the Rwanda qualifiers, the team has improved, especially with our guards,” Lamunu said.

“The preparations are going well. At this level, communication and hustle are key but we need to do it for 40 minutes straight.”

The 13-player squad blends experience and young talent, including captain Jane Asinde, sharpshooter Jamila Nansikombi, and forward Hope Akello Agnes. Lamunu and Robinson bring added leadership and intensity on both ends of the floor.

The Gazelles leave for Abidjan on Friday with hopes of making a big impact at the tournament.
