The revamped rugby championship enters week 7 and is headlined by the Robert Seguya Memorial Cup, a clash between the Jinja Hippos and Toyota Buffaloes.
The late Robert Seguya was a vital cog in setting up the winning structures of both clubs, and they have, since his passing, dedicated this fixture to his honor and remembrance.
Jinja Hippos are flying in second place, their highest-ever table ranking with four wins, a draw, and a loss, while the Buffaloes are leading the mid-table in fifth, with three wins, two losses, and a draw. The two teams have scrapped draws from giants i.e. a 20-all draw between Hippos and Heathens, and a 19-all draw between the Buffaloes and KOBs. There will be a battle to watch out for between the full-backs on the opposite ends, Aaron Tukei against the man who can do no wrong, Yasin Wasswa.
Platinum Credit Heathens, the only unbeaten team, will be hosting the stubborn Rhinos, the latter coming off an agonizingly close loss to the KOBs and reeling for some revenge; a scalp of Heathens’ stature would heal those wounds from last weekend.
The Rams are presented with a chance to save their season, with a battle in the relegation zone, against new boys Kampani’s Eagles. Relegation-threatened Impis are hosting the Entebbe-based Plascon Mongers, the former also hoping to get their season back on track.
The defending champions, Stanbic Black Pirates, welcome the Walukuba Barbarians to Kings Park Arena. The former are intent on keeping their winning streak while the latter feel the way their game against Heathens ended, they do deserve a big result. The Warriors host the KOBs in the last game of the round.
