The She Cranes have been pitted alongside Jamaica, South Africa, New Zealand, Wales, and Trinidad in the Preliminary Stage 2 of the Netball World Cup.

The stage kicks off today with Uganda playing the high-flying Sunshine Girls of Jamaica.

Uganda will also face Wales and South Africa in the group. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, while the rest will play classification matches.

Uganda will need to be on their guard against danger girls Shanice Beckford and Rebekah Robinson for the Caribbean side who are capable of wreaking havock on any team.

The Caribbean side have been ruthless in the World Cup so far, topping Group C with three consecutive wins, beating up on Sri Lanka 105-25, Wales 75-40 before overcoming hosts South Africa 67-49.

The She Cranes finished second in their Group after defeating Trinidad and Tobago 74-34 yesterday, and will be looking to overcome the Jamaica challenge today.

They have already shown that they can compete with the best teams in the world, and they will be looking to build on the positives from their recent defeat to defending Champions New Zealand.
