The State Minister for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang promised She Cranes a befitting preparation ahead of the World Cup 2023.

In his words, the national netball team will have at least a month camp in South Africa before they honour the global event.

Uganda is among the sixteen nations to feature in 2023 Netball World Cup to be hosted in Cape Town South Africa between July 28th and August 06th 2023.

This backroom news kissed the sun during the flagging off of the She Cranes team enroute New Zealand for Fast Five World Series.

“I want to pledge on behalf of the government that we’re going to provide you with all the necessary support for the forthcoming world cup,” he noted adding.

“I want you to be in South Africa for a month before World Cup, I want you to train on those facilities, you need to acclimatize with that weather such that you rub shoulders with those big nations in the game.”

The minister also revealed that the team will get its arrears for Commonwealth Games since NCS received 6.5bn shillings for this quarter and soon the money will be distributed to federations.

This will be the fourth time Uganda will be taking part in the World Cup, the first came in 1979, before returning in 2015 and 2019.
