FUFA Women’s Elite League action returned on Saturday, March 2nd, with three interesting games in the Elizabeth group of the league.

In the Tooro Derby, hosts She Geme FC exacted revenge on their rivals Tooro Queens, securing a 2-1 victory. Janet Kabogho and Mary Kemigisha scored a goal each in the first half to put the Knights in the lead.

Sharon Kanyiginya scored a beautiful free kick to pull one back for the visitors in the second half before compatriot Kaija Florence received her matching orders for a a second yellow card, which limited the visitors’ chances of finding an equalizer.

She Geme held on for a crucial victory, reversing their 3-0 first-leg defeat. The loss was a blow to Tooro Queens’ title aspirations as they are now five points adrift of the table leaders.

She Corporate Maintain Top Spot

Meanwhile, league leaders She Corporate FC maintained their dominance with a hard-fought 1-0 victory away against Goldstar Ladies FC.

Spencer Nakacwa scored the only goal of the game, solidifying the position of the Sharks at the top of the table with a five-point lead, as they fight to get back to top flight.

In another game played, Isra Soccer Academy edged out bottom-placed Dynamic Jjeza WFC 1-0. Babirye Hairat‘s lone strike proved crucial, lifting Isra Academy out of the relegation zone and into fifth place, just one point behind Goldstar Ladies FC.

The FUFA Women’s Elite League resumes next weekend with six intriguing fixtures.
