The reason as to why Mali did not honour its encounter with Uganda at the ongoing FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda is a story for another day.

Why, Uganda’s Men Basketball Team, The Silverbacks have been awarded 20 points win for showing up inside the Kigali Arena for the game.

Mali were a no show for the game by tip-off time and per the rules, a team is given a minimum of 15 minutes to be on the court before a forfeit is awarded.

Rumours from the land of a thousand hills has it that Mali is apparently on a strike because of unpaid bonuses.

With the two free points, Uganda remain third in Group A with 6 points in four games. Cape Verde and Nigeria are also on six points in four games.

Cape Verde, Uganda’s next opponent beat Nigeria 79-70 in the other group game earlier on. The top 3 teams from this group after three rounds will advance to the second round of the African Qualifier.
