2025 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket
- Senegal 88-53 Uganda
Uganda’s Silverbacks opened their 2025 FIBA AfroBasket campaign with a heavy 88-53 loss to Senegal on Tuesday at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda.
Facing the Lions of Teranga for the third time in tournament history, Uganda started brightly but soon ran into foul trouble.
Senegal’s superior size and control in the paint quickly shifted the game, and by halftime the Silverbacks had committed 16 fouls, allowing the West Africans to pull away.
Gora Camara led Senegal with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Jean Jacques Boissy and Makhtar Gueye each scored 16.
Ousmane Ndiaye added 12. Uganda’s top scorers were John Deu Geu with 17 points and Jacksen Moni with 10.
The game turned early when Boissy, the 2025 BAL MVP, poured in 12 points in just 11 first-half minutes, half from three-point range.
Senegal’s bench added 52 points overall, punishing Uganda with 28 from turnovers and 22 on fast breaks.
The 35-point win reinforced Senegal’s title ambitions, while Uganda will look to bounce back against Mali on Thursday at 4:30 pm EAT.
