Founded in 2014, Soroti Cricket Academy is set to celebrate a significant milestone — a decade of empowering young girls and boys through cricket, education, and community development.
Since its inception, the Academy has transformed the lives of over 1,800 beneficiaries, creating a platform where they can pursue their dreams, develop their talents, and learn valuable life skills.
“We’ve stayed true to our vision to create empowered youth with the ability to discover and fulfil their potential. We have done this through sports, education, and mentorship,” says Felix Musana, the Chairman of Soroti Cricket Academy.
The Academy’s 10th-anniversary celebration will bring together parents, stakeholders, partners, and the community to honour a decade of growth, resilience, and commitment to youth empowerment.
The journey, which began with just four children, has blossomed into a thriving program with a focus on holistic development, emphasizing not only cricket skills but also educational advancement and social issue sensitization.
“The academy is now proud to be associated with 3 Cricket grounds, 3 professional cricket clubs, a partnership with 18 schools and impact on 1,800 direct beneficiaries 25 of whom have represented the national cricket team and collectively won over 14 titles within the 10 years,” adds Musana.
To commemorate this milestone, the Soroti Cricket Academy will host two events;
- The 10th Anniversary Dinner which is scheduled for 20th December. At the dinner, the Academy’s key stakeholders, supporters, beneficiaries, and partners will be celebrated and outstanding performers will be rewarded and players over the year.
- The Cricket Carnival which will take place on 21st December. The carnival will feature fun-filled activities including cricket games, barbecue, music, and performances by top DJs from Soroti and across the country in order to raise awareness about the academy and the game of cricket. It’ll feature family-friendly entertainment with the aim to attract both cricket enthusiasts and newcomers curious about the sport. This will be topped up by an after-party that promises to be epic.
