St. Lawrence University Kicks Off UFL Campaign with 3-1 Win over Nkumba

St. Lawrence University, the runners-up of last year’s University Football League (UFL), got their 2023 campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over Nkumba University on Wednesday.

Osman Kembo, Innocent Matenga, and Michael Abura scored the goals for St. Lawrence, while Abbey Kavuma scored the consolation goal for Nkumba.

Kembo opened the scoring in the 7th minute before Abura Michael and Innocent Matenga netted a goal each in the second half to make it 3-0. Abbey Kavuma pulled one back for Nkumba in the 83rd minute.

The win puts St. Lawrence top of Group E, while Nkumba go bottom with the other group participants Gulu University and International University of East Africa yet to play.

The next game in the group will be played on Thursday, when Bishop Stuart University take on Isbat.
