Uganda came into the game on top of the table due to a superior goal difference and only needed a draw to win the championship, while Tanzania needed a win.

The game was played at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The best chance of the game came in the 42nd minute, when Tanzania were awarded a free kick almost 35 yards from the goal.

Christer John Bahera took a powerful accurate shot that hit the crossbar and came back to the play, which found a well-positioned Winifrida Gerald who scored from the rebound to put Tanzania in the lead before the break.

In the second half, Tanzania looked to be more dangerous and in control of the game.

Uganda’s coach Ayub Khalifah introduced different attackers to hunt for the equalizer, but Tanzania was able to defend their slim lead until the final whistle.

To win the tournament, Tanzania beat Burundi 3-0 in the opening game, before defeating Ethiopia 2-0, Zanzibar 1-0, and Uganda 1-0 in the final game.

many times when we talk the truth, they say that we are bitter,we are envious,we lack patriotism and many more but to be sincere,we should have a look at all the goals we scored starting with Ethiopia ‘s goal,it was only luck,no creativity whatsoever,a keeper or defender kicking the ball anyhow and it drops on the striker’s feet, boom,it’s a goal….we were taking advantage of poor defenders of our opponents but you saw when we faced an organized team like Tanzania,we wouldn’t score such goals,it’s my prayer that one day people may over look a win and start seeing our style of play especially from that gentleman Ayub Khalifa, imagine omwana natikula omupiira Naye nagwirako, what a joke!,there is a difference between clearing a ball and kicking it anyhow
