Ugandan handball has taken another step forward, with three local coaches earning the International Handball Federation (IHF) C License after completing a two-week course in Kigali, Rwanda.

Hassan Male (Ndejje University), Ivan Kissa (Makerere University), and Solomon Opedun (Kawanda Secondary School) were part of the program organized by the IHF and the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) to raise coaching standards across Africa.

Their achievement places them among the country’s top certified coaches, with potential to impact handball at both school and university levels.

Back in Uganda, 49 more coaches earned the IHF D License through a grassroots initiative supported by German IHF instructor Dr. Helmut Martin and Uganda’s Jimmy Orotin.

The training took place in Lira, Soroti, and Tororo, focusing on youth development and basic coaching skills.

The Uganda Handball Federation plans to keep working with international partners to build local capacity in coaching and officiating.
