The Uganda Senior Netball team, the She Cranes will be a part of the 2023 World Cup slated for South Africa.

Uganda has steadied itself in sixth position in the latest World Netball rankings, granting the Pearl of Africa a spot at the global showdown.

According to the Netball regulations, the top five qualify for the World Cup, but fifth-placed South Africa qualified as the hosts.

Uganda has thereby automatically qualified to this stage only for the fourth time in history.

The maiden appearance was in 1979 in Trinidad and Tobago, before going back in 2015 and 2019 respectively.

To make the required 16 teams, nations will compete in the regional qualifiers, from which ten more teams will join for the South Africa showpiece.

The automatic bye to the World Cup comes as a huge sigh of relief for the She Cranes who have been struggling with facilitation funds and would have been further stretched by the regional qualifiers.

The finals will be played between 28th July and 6th August 2023 in Cape Town.
