Uganda Golf Union named two provisional teams for the forthcoming 2023 Victoria Cup to be hosted by Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.
Coach Flavia Namakula and Team Manager Sam Kacungira have picked 10 seasoned seniors and 4 promising juniors for the challenge.
The shortlisted players hit the ground running on Monday for a residential camp until Thursday, honing their skills for the big event. The final squad will be revealed on the same day, followed by a final day of pre-tournament preparation before taking a well-deserved break.
On January 31st, the official practice round and flag raising ceremony will set the stage for the main event. The tournament tees off on February 1st and culminates with the closing ceremony on February 3rd.
This annual battle between golfing giants Uganda and Kenya returns after a two-year hiatus, with Kenya claiming victory in all three rounds of the 2022 edition held at Limuru Golf Club in Nairobi.
Kenya won the tournament, defeating Uganda in all three rounds. The 2023 edition was not held as there was a request from Kenya to postpone the event.
