Uganda’s Olympic body in conjunction with National Forestry Authority are going to embark on a green environment move on 1500 acres.
The good news was shared to the press during Uganda Olympic Committee end of year presser on Friday morning.
The save the nature partnership move will see one of the largest Olympic Forests in the Olympic global family.
“Uganda Forest Authority provided us with 1500 acres of land in Budongo (Kagombe), Muzizi River (Buhungiro), Lakeshores (Bajjo), Kyoga (Namatale) and Karamoja (Mt Moroto) where the Olympic Forest will be created to reduce on the carbon cycle,” UOC president Dr Donald Rukare noted.
In the same presser held at the UOC headquarters in Lugogo, Kampala, Rukare cited a number of significant milestones attained rhyming in line with their strategic plan.
“In 2022, we achieved a number of milestones in line with our Strategic Plan as we managed to honour all competitions and bring medals back home.”
“2022 was a success. We firmly believe that 2023 will be a year full of sporting promise and activity. Thank you all. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” Rukare ended the press conference.
