Uganda Thrash Singapore in Netball World Cup Opener

Uganda’s She Cranes started their 2023 Netball World Cup campaign with a convincing win over Singapore, thrashing the Southeast Asian side 79-37.

The She Cranes dominated from the outset, taking a 22-9 lead in the first quarter and extending their advantage to 42-18 at halftime.

Coach Fred Mugerwa made a number of changes in the third quarter, introducing Mary Nuba and Irene Eyaru for Hanisha Muhamed and Shadia Nassanga.

Lillian Achola came on for Norah Lunkuse, while Farida Kadondi also replaced Stella Nanfuka.

The She Cranes maintained their dominance in the third quarter, leading 62-29 at the end of the period.

In the final quarter, Uganda added another 17 points to seal a comfortable 79-37 victory.

Uganda’s Hanisha Muhamed was one of the stars of the show, scoring an impressive 30 goals from 35 attempts.

However, Margaret Bagaala was voted the player of the match for her overall outstanding performance.

The She Cranes will be back in action on Saturday morning against reigning champions New Zealand, who defeated Trinidad and Tobago 76-27 earlier today.
