The Uganda U-18 Women’s Football Team will be in action after 4 days of resting as they take on Burundi in a must-win game to keep their hopes of winning the title alive.
The game will be played at 6pm at Azam Complex, and will be the third game for Uganda in the tournament.
Uganda defeated Ethiopia 1-0 in the opening game before beating Zanzibar 3-0 in the second game.
Coach Ayub Khalifah has made it clear that their target is to win every game and lift the title.
“We have rested enough since we last played and this has given us enough time to work on the grey areas.”
“Therefore, as we go into the game against Burundi, we hope for the best because victory gives us a chance to go into the final game against Tanzania with fate in our hands,” he said.
Khalifah also states that they have tried to work on the mentality of the players so that they remain focused.
“Staying in one place for a long time can bring mental fatigue but we have tried to keep the players focused on our mission and they have so far responded positively,” he concluded.
Uganda is currently second on the table, 3 points and 2 goals behind Tanzania. The other game of the day will see winless Zanzibar face Ethiopia.
The last game of the tournament will see hosts Tanzania face Uganda in an encounter that is expected to be the title decider.
The CECAFA U-18 Women’s Championship is a round-robin tournament, with the team with the most points at the end of the tournament being crowned champions.
