Uganda U16 Women’s National Team put up a good fight against Kawempe in Friendly

Uganda’s U16 Women’s National Team faced off against Kawempe U16 in a friendly match on Sunday as they gear up for the upcoming UEFA U16 Women’s Friendship Tournament. Despite a valiant effort, Uganda fell short, losing 2-3 to Kawempe.

Kawempe secured the win thanks to goals from Kevin Nanyunja, Belinda Nabawanuka, and Mable Adong.

Uganda U16 Women’s National Team fought back with goals from Vanessa Namazzi and Bushirah Nalunkuma, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Coach Pleased with Team’s Performance Despite Loss

Head coach Charles Ayiekoh remained optimistic after the game, praising his team’s performance.

“We may have lost, but I’m happy with how the girls played,” Ayiekoh said. “The weather conditions were challenging, but they showed great fighting spirit.”

Ayiekoh acknowledged Kawempe’s strength, highlighting the value of the friendly match.

“Kawempe has a strong team, and this was a perfect test for our girls before the tournament in Turkey. It’s given me a clearer picture of who will be starting in our matches,” he explained.

Uganda Sets Sights on Success at Inaugural UEFA Tournament

The UEFA U16 Women’s Friendship Tournament will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 9th to 19th. Uganda is placed in Group B alongside China, Wales, and Paraguay.

The Ugandan team departs for Turkey on Tuesday morning, brimming with confidence and ready to compete. Coach Ayiekoh and his technical staff are confident they can make Uganda proud at this prestigious tournament.
