Uganda U-14 Boys Tennis national team won the ITF/CAT team championships in Bujumbura, Burundi to seal continental qualification.
Organized by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and the host nation, Sebbi Rajab Muzamil, Samuel Okello, Cillian Ndilima, and Edward Odocken excelled.
The Championships acted as an evaluation for an eventual selection of potential players to take part in the first Africa Junior Championships in March 2024.
“The champions go on to represent the Zone and our U-14 team will have that privilege thanks to the boys’ performance,” Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) coordinator Alvin Bagaya Mboijana told Nnalubaale Sports.
Other success stories had Okello winning a Silver medal, and Sebbi bagging Bronze both from individual events at the Entente Sportive de Bujumbura, the host venue.
Uganda finished in third position in the overall team classification for the 2024 Eastern Africa individual and team Zonal 2024 Event.
