The Uganda Women’s National Team, the Crested Cranes, will face Algeria in the first round of qualifiers for the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The draws were held on July 6, 2023, in Rabat, Morocco.
The two teams will face off between September 18 and 26, 2023. The winner on aggregate will face the winner of the match between Burundi and Ethiopia in the second qualifying stage.
The second round will be played between November 27 and December 5, 2023.
In the previous edition of the WAFCON, Uganda eliminated Ethiopia on penalties after a 2-2 draw on aggregate, to reach the final tournament.
The Crested Cranes ended their journey in the group stages with just one point, a 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso.
Reigning champions South Africa and Zambia were given a bye on the first round qualifying stage. The final tournament of the 2024 WAFCON will be hosted in Morocco.
