Ugandan players Arafat Kakonge and Boris Kwezi guided Rwanda’s Etoile De L’est to the Super League promotion status.

The former Maroons FC midfielder Kakonge, who joined Etoile in the middle of the season, netted four times and registered 8 assists.

His fellow Ugandan, Kwezi scored nine goals to help their side, and Amagaju FC secure promotion to Primus National League.

Etoile managed to top the Rwanda second division league in Group A to qualify for top-tier playoffs.

The top four teams reached the mini-league playoffs, a stage that determines the sides that qualify for the top flight.

The race had Etoile, Gicumbi FC, Amagaju FC, and Vision FC and the contribution of Kakonge and Kweiz plus teammates saw their team make the cut.
