Ugandan riders delivered a commanding performance in the opening heat of the Central Africa Motocross Championship (CAC), held at Smart Beach in Mityana.
The event attracted 38 riders from Uganda and Tanzania, with Kenya notably absent from this round.
The hosts made their intentions clear from the start, sweeping most of the podium positions across multiple categories. The only win for Tanzania came in the MX1 class, where Masoud Seif Khamis put in a strong performance to take first place ahead of Uganda’s Isma Mukiibi and other contenders.
In the MX125cc class, Uganda’s Gift Ssebuguzi, Jerome Mubiru, and Dan Mitima took the top three positions respectively, showing strong coordination and speed on the sandy Mityana circuit.
The MX Vets class was dominated by Rogers Ssebunya, Asraf Mbabazi, and JB Achal, who maintained consistency throughout the heat.

The MX65cc class saw Uganda’s young talents excel once again, with Miguel Katende, Jonathan Katende, and Ethan Katek finishing in the top three positions. In the MX65cc ladies class, Jamirah Makumbi, Joy Akao, and Faith Deedan impressed with strong performances to take the podium.
In the general MX65cc category, Ethan Musedde, Larry Ssekamwa, and Heyden Kaliisa secured the top spots, further asserting Uganda’s dominance in the junior ranks.
The Central Africa Motocross Championship continues tomorrow with two more heats that will determine the final results of the first round.
