Uganda’s 8-year-old prodigy Joseph Sebatindira clinches Gold at World Table Tennis Youth Contender Championships

Joseph Sebatindira, an 8-year-old prodigy from Uganda scooped Gold at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender Championships on Wednesday in, Cairo, Egypt.

Having not featured at a World Table Tennis event, Sebatindira went into this competition unranked, but he did not let his status quo deter him from excelling.

The youngster met opponents from different countries, but dislodged them in the same manner with the exception of the semifinal where he had to come from 2-0 to win the game 3-2.

Into the final, he faced local Eyad Hussein who he overcame 3-0 to bring home Gold.

After winning a silver medal in Kenya, a first continental one for Uganda, Sebatindira went a notch higher in this one to scoop Gold.

It is also Uganda’s first ever World Gold Medal in table tennis.
