2025/26 Uganda Premier League
- KCCA 2-1 URA
- Buhimba United 1-2 Mbarara City
Ivan Ahimbisibwe returned to punish his former club on Friday evening, scoring twice in the first half as KCCA FC edged URA FC 2–1 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium.
His sharp finishing lifted the Cityzens back to joint top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
KCCA started brightly and found the opener in the 17th minute. Sammy Ssebaduka beat his man on the wing and whipped in a cross that deflected into Ahimbisibwe’s path.
The striker reacted quickly, smashing in the first goal. Seven minutes later, Ssebaduka nearly added a second after a neat setup from Saidi Mayanja, but his effort went wide.
The intensity stayed high, with Mayanja receiving a yellow card in the 34th minute for a foul on Ronald Otti.
He nearly made up for it moments before halftime when his thunderous strike hit the woodwork. Ahimbisibwe was alert again, burying the rebound to send KCCA in 2–0 up at the break.
URA improved after the restart, and substitute Joseph Ssemujju pulled one back to set up a tense finish. Ahimbisibwe later missed a chance to complete his hat trick, firing over the bar after a brilliant pass from Joel Sserunjogi.
Coach Sergio Traguil made changes to steady his side, bringing on Emmanuel Anyama, Gavin Kizito, and Sharifu Ssengendo.
Anyama twice came close to restoring the two-goal cushion, with one effort blocked and another drifting wide.
Despite late cautions to James Mubezi and Charles Lukwago for time-wasting, KCCA held firm until the final whistle.
The win reignites their title charge and highlights Ahimbisibwe’s growing influence. KCCA now shift focus to an away trip against Mbarara City on Friday, November 28, in Kamwenge.
In the other game, Mbarara City stunned Buhimba United 2-1 at the Royal park in Butema.
