The Uganda Premier League Secretariat has announced a change in kickoff time for Saturday’s final matches of the 2022-23 campaign.
The kickoff time has been adjusted from 4pm to 3 pm to allow for the coronation and celebrations of the winner of the championship.
The three-horse race took a new twist on Tuesday with SC Villa assuming the top spot having beaten Blacks Power FC 1-0 at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
The Jogoo assumed the advantage after both Vipers SC and KCCA FC slipped in the race with the pair drawing 1-1 and 0-0 against BUL FC and Busoga United, respectively.
Villa, on top, have 52 points, two ahead of both Vipers and KCCA, who are second and third, respectively.
Villa, who are also the record holders, will need a win against URA FC at Wankulukuku, to be guaranteed their first league title in 19 years.
Meanwhile, Vipers who will be home at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende will take on Busoga United, and victory will see them win the title, should Villa fail to win.
On the other hand, it’s a bit more complicated for KCCA, who will need to win at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo but pray both Vipers and Villa drop points.
The main celebrations will be prepared by the league secretariat at Wankulukuku, as Villa currently holds the advantage.
