2025/26 Uganda Premier League | Saturday, May 9 | MD 27
- Kitara Vs NEC – Royal Park, Butema | 4 pm
Cut the gap or fall away from the title race, that is the challenge facing Kitara FC when they host NEC FC at Royals Park in Butema on Saturday.
After leaders Vipers SC were held to a 1-1 draw by URA, Kitara now have a chance to breathe new life into their title chase.
Third on the table with 54 points, victory would move them into second place and cut the gap at the top to three points.
But NEC arrive in Butema as one of the league’s toughest sides to beat.

The visitors are unbeaten in 16 matches, a run stretching back to December, and have kept nine straight clean sheets since drawing 1-1 with Vipers in February.
Their latest result, a 1-0 win over BUL FC, lifted them to fifth place with 47 points.
Kitara, however, know this is the kind of moment that can define a season.
Playing at home gives them belief, but they will miss first choice goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige, who starts a two match suspension following a FUFA Disciplinary Panel ruling after his incident involving Vipers forward Milton Karisa.
The earlier meeting between the two sides showed just how close they are. The game ended 3-3 in Lugogo, with both teams trading goals in one of the season’s most entertaining matches.
Another open and dramatic contest may well be on the cards as we wrap up Match-day 27 in the Uganda Premier League.
