Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) has been expelled from the 2025 U-20 National Boys’ Football Championship following serious breaches of conduct during their semifinal clash with St. Mary’s School–Kitende on Tuesday.
The match, hosted at Ngora High School under the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA), turned controversial after JIPRA was found to have fielded ineligible players Isabirye Adrian and Ntege Musa, both of whom had received two yellow cards and were thus suspended.
But the violations didn’t end there.
According to a USSSA disciplinary report, JIPRA players and officials also engaged in violent conduct including the assault of match officials and incitement of crowd unrest, violating USSSA Rules 8.1 and 8.2.
In response, the tournament’s National Organizing Committee handed down a series of harsh penalties;
- Forfeiture of the semifinal match to St. Mary’s Kitende
- Immediate expulsion from the championship
- Eviction from the games village and surrounding areas in Ngora District
- Additional disciplinary measures to follow after consultation with the Ministry of Education and Sports
USSSA reaffirmed its commitment to discipline and fair play, stating that such behaviour will not be tolerated at any level of competition.
Due to the following decisions, the FEASSSA line up is complete with defending champions, Amus College, Bukedea Comprehensive School, Buddo SS and St Mary’s School – Kitende.
The final is set to be played on Wednesday May 13, in what is meant to be an all Wakiso Schools derby as St Mary’s School – Kitende takes on Buddo SS in the afternoon at 2 PM.
