St Noa Girls Secondary School clinched the 2025 USSSA Girls Football Championship, edging Amus College School 5-3 in a tense penalty shootout after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.

The final was more than just a contest, it was a redemption story. Having suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Amus in the 2023 edition, St Noa returned with fire in their boots and vengeance in their hearts. Their determination was palpable from the first whistle to the final spot-kick.

Amus drew first blood through a moment of individual brilliance by Sylvia Kabene, whose solo run and composed finish gave her side an early advantage.

They pressed for a second but couldn’t capitalize, and St Noa gradually clawed their way back into the game. The equalizer came in the second half, with Eunice Nabwoba finding the net to level matters.

Both teams pushed for a winner, but goalkeepers stole the show. Angella Adeke of Amus pulled off two outstanding saves to keep St Noa at bay, while her counterpart Lillian Nakirya later named Best Goalkeeper held firm when it mattered most.

With neither side able to break the deadlock, the match was decided by penalties. The shootout saw the first six penalties converted with calm precision.

But when Amus faltered on their fourth attempt, St Noa capitalized, scoring both the fourth and fifth penalties to seal the victory and spark wild celebrations from their technical team and fans.

This triumph marks St Noa’s second national title, their first having come in 2022 in Gulu. It also signifies their growth into a powerhouse of girls’ football in Uganda.

In the bronze medal match, Boni Consilii edged record champions Kawempe Muslim 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Agnes Nabukenya had opened the scoring for Kawempe before Biiba Nenghamba equalized, setting the stage for the dramatic shootout.

All four semifinalists St Noa, Amus College, Boni Consilii, and Kawempe Muslim have earned the honor of representing Uganda at the 2025 FEASSSA Games.
