Weatherhead Hockey Club edged Kampala Hockey Club 2-1 in the first leg of the Uganda Cup semifinals on Saturday.
The match was a close affair, with Weatherhead taking the lead in the 7th minute through Colline Batusa.
KHC equalized through Stewart Kavuma in the 15th minute, but Timothy Ntumba scored the winner for Weatherhead in the 36th minute.
The two teams will meet again in the second leg on September 24th. The winner of the tie will progress to the final of the Uganda Cup.
Wananchi Defeat Rockets to Get closer to a Uganda Cup Final Clash with Weatherhead
Wananchi Hockey Club defeated Rockets 4-2 in the other semifinal on Saturday.
Jordan Achaye, Nicholas Lukwago, Andrew Lubega and William Oketcho found the net for Wananchi, while Brian Ofoyimungu and Kidega got the consolation for Rockets.
The two teams will meet again in the second leg on September 24th. The winner of the tie will face the winner between Weatherhead and KHC in the final of the Uganda Cup.
These results made the prospect of an exciting final between Weatherhead and Wananchi ever more likely.
