JT Jaguars, who finished second in the National Basketball League, have formally asked the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) to clarify why City Oilers players appear to have bypassed standard clearance procedures.

In a letter signed by Club President Dr. JT Nyangenya, the Jaguars raised concerns about players like Canadian Chad Bowie and Central African Kurt-Curry Axel Wegscheider’s registration with a couple of example including one of Rez Life’s Rin Tueny.

“Why is City Oilers an exception?” Dr. Nyangenya asked, highlighting the need for fairness and equal treatment across the league.

The letter references FUBA rules requiring submission of an original, signed hard copy of registration documents which means the document needs a physical signature, a process followed by nearly all teams.

Another scenario cites the example of Brenda Akon of JKL Lady Dolphins BBC, who only received clearance after completing this procedure.

Jaguars emphasized that consistency matters. Over 99% of teams have adhered to the rules, but City Oilers seem to have avoided the same checks.

The club has requested a formal response from FUBA and promised to keep fans updated.

On the court, the upcoming playoffs will see the Jaguars face City Oilers. Despite sweeping the ten-time champions during the regular season, City Oilers’ additions of Bowie and Wegscheider make the postseason matchup highly anticipated.
