Uganda Women’s Rugby Central League enters round two this Saturday with two games on the menu at Kyadondo and Makerere rugby grounds.
Table leaders and defending champions Black Pearls with 12 points have sent an early warning to Makerere-based Ewes to endeavor to show up because they have no interest in walkovers.
Ewes on the weekend of 4th February failed to show up for their fixture at Kings park Arena Bweyogerere againsts Black Pearls, a move that frustrated coach-player Helen Buteme‘s plans.
It will be fireworks as Pearls will be out for a bonus point win to retain dominance while the most decorated female rugby club in the land, Thunderbirds will push to stay within reach of the top-of-the-table slot.
Thunderbirds host Entebbe Avengers at Kyadondo Rugby Club at 2 pm and their skipper Anges Nakuya believes every win at this stage is a bonus as they are building a squad for the future.
“We take a game at a time and we do not undermine any team. Plus, we have a good number of rookies, and the technical team is rebuilding a team that will be a force to reckon with.”
On the other hand, Avengers with 5 points on their back and in third position have vowed to change the rhythm of play in the second round of the competition according to their captain, Peace Lekuru.
“We had a false start against Pearls then a couple of injuries to key players and our tie against Thunderbirds did not help our progression. The two above us should know it’s not over and we have joined our puzzle to fit the second stanza,” the 2022 MVP charged.
