It rained goals when Weatherhead met with Thunders in the Women’s National Hockey League over the weekend.

Weatherhead’s top scorer Anita Atim scored seven goals as her side thrashed Thunders 9-0 to consolidate their position at the top of the table.

Atim got her first two in the opening quarter, and the game stayed that way up until the last quarter when she made it three.

Joan Andika found the fourth before Atim made it five. Nancy Apio joined the party with the 6th before Atim wrapped up the tie with her fifth, sixth, and seventh goals.

Atim takes her tally in the league this season to 13 goals, that’s three fewer than the league’s top scorer Doreen Mbabazi.

Mbabazi was not on the score sheet this game week after her side Wananchi fired blanks against Weatherhead sister club Weatherhead Historicals.

With their 6-0 win over Deliverance Church, Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) dislodged Wananchi from the second position.

Lucy Akello, Winnie Alaro, Joy Sserunjogi, Angela Nakintu and Sandra Namusoke (2) got the goals for KHC.

Weatherhead now leads the table standings with 16 points, three ahead of KHC. Defending champions Wananchi descends to the third position and are now four points adrift of the summit.
