World Netball development officer in charge of Africa, Ms. Joan Smith concluded her three days visit to Uganda on Sunday.
The Namibian’s stay in the Pearl of Africa had her hold several crucial meetings with big offices in Uganda’s sports fraternity.
Smith held talks with the Uganda Olympic Committee, the Common Wealth Association of Uganda, the National Council of Sports, and the Ministry of Education and Sports.
While addressing the media at the offices of the Uganda Netball Federation on Sunday morning, Joan highlighted the purpose of her visit.
Flanked by the Acting President of Uganda Netball Federation Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso, and the CEO Francis Banya, she noted that.
“World Netball will extend some support as regards finances for the She Cranes and prepare a couple of warm-up games in Cape Town.”
This move is to see the African powerhouse field a sounding team in the forthcoming World Cup finals to be hosted by South Africa.
In related news, Smith tasked the Uganda government to construct facilities that meet international standards for the sport to grow.
