WTT Youth Championships: Sebatindira defends his U11 title

Joseph Sebatindira, the Ugandan prodigy turning heads in Ugandan table tennis has crowned an immaculate campaign at the World Table Tennis Youth Championship with another Gold medal.

This came after the 9-year-old matched to a resounding 3-0 win over Faris Al Taher in the final of the U11 Boys Singles that was played at Lusail Sports Arena in Doha, Qatar on Thursday.

Given he didn’t lose a set, the youngster marched to the final with identical results in both the group stages and in the semifinal.

All his games including the final ended 3-0. In the final, he was ruthless, beating his opponent with a difference of 16 points as he garnered 33 compared to the opponent’s 17.

Sebatindira’s triumph means he has successfully defended the title he won last year in Cairo, Egypt.

This was his second gold medal in this competition. Sebatindira bagged his first yesterday when he beat Abdalaziz Al Abdulla 3-1 in the final of the U13 Boys Singles.

He becomes the first 9 year old, to win gold in both the U13 and U11 categories.

Sebatindira who travelled to Qatar as a lowly ranked player compared to his opponents in both sections, returns to Uganda as champion in both categories.
