AFCON 2023: Micho names 42-man provisional squad, key players missing

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named a 42-player provisional squad to prepare for the forthcoming AFCON 2023 qualifier against Algeria.

Uganda will host the North African nation away from home on June 18th in Cameroon.

Several key players including defenders Timothy Awany, and Livingstone Mulondo, and forwards Sadat Anaku, Steven Sserwadda, and Steven Mukwala are missing.

There is also no place for Express FC forward Allan Kayiwa, who is the joint Uganda topscorer with Charles Bbaale.

Players summoned who were not part of the squad for the doubleheader with Tanzania include SC Villa in-form striker Charles Bbaale, KCCA midfielder Moses Waiswa, Wakiso Giants striker Shariph Kimbowa and goalkeeper Ismael Watenga.

Uganda sits a decent third on the table with four points, the same as Tanzania, who are second , and two above Niger in a battle to finish second to Algeria.
