Uganda Cranes’ planned international friendlies against Tanzania and Madagascar have been cancelled after authorities raised sanitary and public health concerns.
The matches were scheduled for June 5 and June 8 in Marrakech, Morocco, and were expected to give head coach Paul Put’s side valuable game time during the FIFA international window.
The cancellation came after the Uganda delegation had already arrived in Morocco ahead of the fixtures.
As a result, the players and officials will now return to their respective destinations without kicking a ball.
FUFA Executive Committee member and Uganda Cranes leader of delegation Rogers Mulindwa expressed disappointment over the development.
“FUFA regrets to announce the cancellation of our two international friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar, scheduled for June 5 and 8 in Marrakech, Morocco,” Mulindwa said.

“Our delegation had arrived in Morocco and will return to their respective destinations.”
Mulindwa also thanked the Moroccan authorities for hosting the team during their stay.
“We thank the Royal Moroccan Government and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for their hospitality,” he added.
The cancellation denies Uganda an opportunity to test themselves against two regional opponents as preparations continue for future international assignments.
