Sunday, June 7 set to climax the Buganda Region 3rd Division League as Buwambo United hosts Simba/UWA FC as both teams push for the division title.
After 28 matches, both teams are tied on 64 points. The winner of the game shall be crowned Buganda Region 3rd Division league champions, while a draw shall favor the away team, being better with head to head and goal difference.
In the first leg, at Namulonge ground, the home of Uganda Wildlife Authority, Simba FC defeated Buwambo 3-0, and on goal difference they have a superior 42 compared to Buwambo United’s 27.
Going into this decider, Buwambo United, under Patrick Kimuli, assembled a well-balanced team working on corrective responsibility.
Meanwhile, players like Enock Ssekatawa, the team’s top scorer, winger Alex Mutebi, captain Alex Kiyaga, and center half Augustine Lubega are slightly leading the Nord for the team.
On the other hand, Simba under Coach Andrew Mugagga, they are dependent on several Stars such as Sam Ssemugugu, Kenneth Ssebaduka, Ronnie Ziraba, Calvin Pariyo, and many other big names for the level of Uganda’s third division League.
On paper, the Rangers hold an upper hand in the game despite Buwambo United having a home advantage. Simba FC is rallying to return to top tiers football since sleeping off from top flight nearly ten years back.
For Buwambo United, they seek to continue rising as they aim for their first Buganda region title. The winner shall qualify for a playoff double header match against the Kampala Region winner, who will be decided on the same day, probably between Proline FC and Blacks Power FC.
Besides the intense fixture, other teams in the Buganda Region 3rd division League shall have their final game of the season as well on different grounds.
With the relegation battles already settled, as Kiboga United, Manyangwa, and Builwe Red Stars join Super Eagles Lugongwe, who were disqualified from the league. Kiboga United at Kiboga Ssaza ground will host Nantabulirwa FC, Buikwe Red Stars in Buikwe will take on Wobulenzi FC, and Manyangwa FC shall play at home to Kajjansi United.
After servicing from relegation, Synergy FC at Ndeeba Primary in Kayunga district, will entertain Seeta United. In the mid-table, Young Simba at Bombo Barracks will take on Masaka City, while UG Sports Arena at Ntenjeru Ssaza ground in Kayunga will host Kira United.
