In the Buganda Regional 3rd division this weekend, promotion and relegation continue to take center stage.
In the promotion race, leaders Simba FC and challenger Buwambo are both in action against Buikwe Redstars and Nantabulirwa.
With both teams coming into action for their third-to-last game, Simba FC leads on head-to-head record and superior goal difference with 58 points, the same as second-placed team Buwambo FC.
Looking to maintain the top spot, Simba FC will host Buikwe Redstars at Namulonge Ground on Sunday, May 24, with kickoff at 4:00 PM.
Buikwe Redstars visit the ground where they haven’t won in a while. Ahead of the clash, the once-giants are already relegated to the fourth division for the first time in over 7 seasons.
In their last game, the Andrew Mugagga-coached side, Simba FC, defeated Wobulenzi 3-0, with all their star players, Sam Ssemugugu, Kenneth Ssebaduka, and Robert Ssewanyana all scoring.
In the challenge, Buwambo FC is traveling to Seeta where they will face Nantabulirwa FC, a side that has already secured their slot for next season in the league.
On the other end of the league, Manyangwa FC continues to push for survival as they play third-placed side Masaka City in Nyendo, Masaka.
Manyangwa FC is 6 points behind Synergy FC, which has 29 points, and is on the cusp of the safe zone, with one more game to play than Manyangwa.
As most of the teams are playing their third-to-last game, Synergy FC will be at their home at Ndeeba Primary in Kayunga, hosting Kiboga United, who only have to win to keep their hope of survival.
Despite remaining sunk, Kiboga United is among the best-performing teams since the second round with 19 points, with Habib Mugume shining with 5 goals since his return in February.
At the moment, Kiboga United has 23 points, disadvantaged compared to Manyangwa FC, who hold a better head-to-head record plus goal difference, and Synergy FC, whom they trail by 6 points.
Synergy FC will continue depending on Mike Katumwa, though his game has been down since March, but he remains their best player.
