Following an excellent performance at the East African Regional Zonal Tournament in Bujumbura, Burundi back in January, Uganda has taken the fight to the continent.

Three players are currently polishing their lawn tennis skills in warm up games before the main tournament on Thursday at the Stade Omnisport Togo, Lome.

Latif Ssendyowa and Jonah Ssentongo who were finalists in Bujumbura are in West Africa on a mission to emulate Troy Adrian Zziwa and Trevor Kazibwe who were the last male players at the Africa Individual Junior Championship on Clay Court hosted in Tunisia.

The third and final player is Claire Nalubuula ranked 76 and she is the first female at the AJC for Uganda in over 12 years after Lydia Ndagire represented the Pearl of Africa with Davis Cup player Simon Ayella at the AJC in 2010.

Coach Edward Odockcen will use this platform as a career growth path having now led Teams to the AJC U-12 Final event twice (2019- Morocco and 2022- Maputo).
