Home Football Women’s Football Crested Cranes CECAFA: Ikwaput picks team work ahead of own heroine performance

Uganda Crested Cranes star forward Fazila Ikwaput has hailed her side’s togetherness and team work ahead of her own brilliance in the ongoing CECAFA Women’s Championships.

Ikwaput scored a brace as the Cranes beat Rwanda 2-0 at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Wednesday.

“The first game is never easy but we worked so hard as a team and showed that there is togetherness amongst us. It wasn’t just about my goals,” she told the press.

“We want to continue raising the flag of this country so high and with this kind of hard work and commitment from everyone we can reach far as a team,” she added.

Uganda has three points, same as Burundi who occupies the top spot thanks to a better goal difference.

Both Rwanda and Djibouti lost their opening encounters and are occupying third place and at the bottom of the group standings respectively.

Crested Cranes head coach George Lutalo will be hoping that Ikwaput is as lethal as she was yesterday, when they play Burundi this Friday.
