The change of venue and circuit of this weekend’s National Rugby outing from Mileke 7s and Legends to Wakiso 7s and Kings Park Arena Bweyogerere did not affect the fixtures.
The Mileke 7s menu had men kicking off this year’s action while the women were to embrace the third leg having played twice already as the men’s action was postponed again and again.
In the Women’s first leg hosted by Makerere Graveyard rugby pitch, Avengers and Black Pearls both secured five wins in a round robin format but the Entebbe side took silverware home due to a superior points difference.
Being serial winners and already in the know why they finished second best, defending champions Black Pearls made a statement going on to win the second leg in Entebbe thanks to a 7-10 win over hosts Avengers.
With one a piece among the two favourites and another giant in Kyadondo rugby club outfit Thunderbirds in the mix, it will definitely be fireworks as the sisters in the game will be playing in front of a much bigger crowd.
Away from the central region, the Women’s Eastern 7s also return with the 3rd leg being held alongside the men’s Eastern Region 7s at Elgon View grounds in Tororo.
Five teams will take part with the top of the log Mbale Eagles entertaining; She Wolves, Nile Ripples, Njeru Cyclones and Bududa.
All games will kick off at 8.40am.
