Already in the medal bracket, now the focus is entering the finals and stand a chance to scoop gold and write history.

Nakimuli who received a bye to the quarterfinals had luck knocking on her door again as her opponent from Sierra Leone Sarah Joo Haghighat in the Women’s Light Flyweight division failed a weight test.

With the cafeteria open 24/7 the discipline of boxers on what to eat and not to is key as one can easily put on weight and be disqualified.

Kibira beat Ali Mohammed of Bangladesh, claiming a win by unanimous decision (5-0) at the Round of 16 bout held at the National Exhibition Centre on Tuesday night.

He will now face Stephen Zimba of Zambia on Thursday at the Quarterfinals.

On a low note, captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa lost to Canadian Wyatt Sanford on points in the Light Welterweight Quarterfinal despite putting up a good show.

Yusuf Nkobeza (Middleweight), Isaac Zebra Ssenyange (Light Middleweight) and Jonathan Kyobe (Featherweight) were eliminated earlier.
