World champion and Olympics gold medalist Joshua Cheptegei and Prisca Chesang ended the year in style with gold medals.
The Ugandan dou claimed the men and women 10km San Silvestre Vallecana races on the streets on the Spanish capital, Madrid on the last day of 2022.
Cheptegei reached the finish line first beating 2021’s winner, Spaniard Mohamed Katir who came second.
In the women’s race, Ugandan youngster Prisca Chesang left her opponents in dust to the gong when she clocked a time of 30 minutes and 19 seconds.
Behind her, Burundi’s Francine Niyonsaba came second at 30:58 whereas Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoech at 31:06 was third.
