2021 Olympic gold and silver medalist Joshua Cheptegei has been nominated among the finest athletes for May in the Fortebet Real Stars Awards.

Cheptegei won gold in the men’s 5000m Nike Pre Classic after clocking 12:57:99 in Eugene, United States of America.

Meanwhile, Stella Chesang and youngster Victor Cherotich will battle the legend for the coveted award.

Chesang set a new national record in the 10km run as she clocked 30 minutes and 39 seconds in the ‘Absa Run Your City’ race in South Africa.

She impressively beat Kenya’s Jesca Chelangat and Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba to scoop the gold.

On the other hand, Cherotich won two medals at the 2022 ISF Games in France as Uganda clinched seven medals during the World School Games.

Cherotich grabbed a silver medal in the 3000m race at Stade Helitas. He thereafter clocked 3:57:62 as he won bronze in the 1500m race at the same venue.

The winner of May’s gong will be named on the 7th of June at Route256 Bar and Restaurant in Lugogo.
