The Uganda Cricket Cranes are poised to take on Bahrain in a thrilling three-match series starting tomorrow at Jinja Senior Secondary School Oval. This series, featuring two T20 Internationals and a 50-over match, is crucial preparation for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B.
The Cricket Cranes have been honing their skills in a rigorous training camp in Jinja, focusing on in-house matches, gym workouts, swimming drills, and intensive net sessions.
Head Coach Abhay Sharma plans to rotate players throughout the series, including potential inclusions from the Uganda ‘A’ team, to finalize the squad for the CWCCL B.
“Our Jinja camp has been essential for building momentum,” Sharma said. “This series aims to prepare every player for their role in the Challenge League, ensuring peak performance.”
The coaching staff, including Assistant Coach Jackson Ogwang, High-Performance Consultant Craig Williams, Fitness Specialist Emmanuela Oroma, and Physiotherapist Ghalena Udaka, are working tirelessly to optimize the team’s performance. Williams emphasizes a disciplined approach, urging the batters to prioritize singles and boundaries only when presented with opportunities.
The T20I matches will provide a competitive test, while the 50-over game will offer a glimpse into the intensity of the upcoming Challenge League B.
As Uganda aims to secure a spot in the next stage of the World Cup Qualifiers, the Bahrain series serves as a vital stepping stone.
